“How Great is G.R.E.A.T. (Gang resistance education and training)?: A
Review of the Article Detailing the School-Based Gang Prevention Program
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page overview of the G.R.E.A.T. program and the experimental design of a paper reviewing its effectiveness. G.R.E.A.T. is an in-school program which targets middle school age children in hopes of deterring their interest in joining gangs. Despite the program inconsistencies in design and presentation a national study conducted by researchers at U.S. Department of Justice’s, Crime and Justice Research, declares the study effective. This paper questions that conclusion, identifying numerous problems with the study itself and delineating the circumstances which make the study suspect. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
